Govt. introduces the Securities Markets Code, 2025 in Lok Sabha

The Government has introduced the Securities Markets Code, 2025, in the Lok Sabha to consolidate and amend the laws governing the securities markets. The Bill seeks to replace the SEBI Act, 1992, the Securities Contracts (Regulation) Act, 1956, and the Depositories Act, 1996. It rationalises and consolidates the existing provisions and provides a modern regulatory framework for investor protection and capital mobilisation in line with the emerging needs of the fast-growing Indian economy.
